Biography
Plantijn, Christoffel I (Saint-Avertin ca. 1520/00/00 / d. July 01, 1589 Antwerpen)
* Antwerp printer, French by birth, founder of one of the most important printing houses of the 16th century, and publisher of the Antwerp Polyglot Bible. His many publications were distinguished by their excellent typography. After his death, the Antwerp business was carried on by Moretus, but it declined during the second half of the 17th century. All was religiously preserved, however, and in 1876 the city of Antwerp acquired the buildings and their contents and created the Plantin-Moretus Museum.
Works
* Lectori: Status of the synod of 18 October 144, together with the statutes of the Liege curia, and the corrections and additions since John IV of Flanders (1290).
