* He became the confessor to the nuns and solitaires of Port-Royal and was held in high esteem by the Jansenists as a spiritual director. Fragments of his correspondence with Pascal are preserved in the publication "Entretien avec M. de Sacy". (EB)
¶Works * L'Histoire du vieux et du nouveau Testament: The work was probably written by Nicolas Fontaine under the guidance of Lemaistre de Sacy. Fontaine collaborated so close with him, that it is very to separate the works of one from the other, although Lemaistre de Sacy was the better of both.
* De imitatione Christi libri quatuor (trsl.) (1st edn: 1672): The translation by de Sacy deserved its succes (24 editions): it's the best prose translation written. As the translation is prose, Sacy wasn't bound to the rhythm of the Latin text and its alliterations. He also put some warmth in his slightly paraphras
